Victoria - Solar Homes Rebate and Loan

Solar Victoria are providing a rebate of up to $1,850 for solar panel (PV) system installation, for homeowners and rental properties. To further reduce installation costs, householders can apply for an interest-free loan, for an amount equivalent to their rebate amount. The loan is required to be repaid over four years, or can be repaid sooner in one lump sum.

To be eligible for a rebate, products must be on the Solar Vic Approved Products list.  Pristine Solar will then upload your quote to the Solar Victoria Portal, which will trigger the online process for your eligibility assessment. Once this is done, all you need to do is upload proof of income and a Rates notice to confirm your details.

On confirmation that you are eligible, Pristine Solar will claim the rebate on your behalf and deduct the rebate amount from the total cost of your system. You will then pay the outstanding balance directly to your retailer once your solar is installed.  Typical households can save up to $890 per year on their electricity bills when they install solar panels.

Full information can be found here.

Am I eligible?

Victorian households are eligible to receive a rebate for installing a solar PV system if they meet the following criteria:

  • They are the owner-occupier of the property
  • The owners have a combined household taxable income of less than $180,000 per year
  • It is an existing property, valued at under $3 million
  • They do not have an existing solar PV system*

* Early adopters who installed their system prior to 1 November 2009 are eligible to replace or expand their existing system. However, those receiving the Premium Feed-in Tariff should consider whether they will be better off if they replace their existing system.  Pristine Solar can help verify.

Obtaining a quote and applying for eligibility

Pristine Solar will need to provide you with a written quote that contains the information you need to make an informed decision. We will also upload your quote into the Solar Victoria Portal which will enable you to start the online eligibility process.  You will receive an email notification informing you that your quote has been uploaded.

Interest-free Loan

To further reduce costs, owner-occupiers can apply for an interest-free loan, for an amount equivalent to their rebate amount.  An interest-free loan, matching the rebate amount, is also available for most solar panel (PV) applications.  In line with the existing rebate, the new interest-free loan can be applied up to an amount of $1,850. If your total system cost is less than $3,700, there will be no upfront cost.  The loan is required to be repaid over four years, or can be repaid sooner in one lump sum.

    Solar Battery Rebate

The Solar Homes Program is supporting eligible Victorian households to install a solar battery, by providing a point of sale discount up to a maximum of $4,174. Interest-free loans are not available under the solar battery rebate.

Applicants must understand the Solar Homes Program eligibility criteria and then contact an authorised solar provider for a quote. To be eligible for a rebate, products must be on the Solar Vic Approved Products. The products are required to meet standards set by the Clean Energy Council, Energy Safe Victoria and other relevant authorities.

Pristine Solar will claim the rebate on your behalf and the rebate amount will be deducted from the cost of your overall system and installation. You are responsible for paying any outstanding balance directly to your solar retailer once installed. Installing a battery can help a typical household save up to $640 a year.

    Postcode eligibility

The battery program targets designated postcodes with high solar PV penetration and population growth. Please contact Pristine Solar if you would like to confirm your postcodes eligibility for the Solar Battery Rebate.
